It’s a new year, a new number, and a new date you’ll be writing incorrectly for the next month.
2017, huh? It’s finally upon us. It only seems right that my last Unexpected Style Inspiration of the year be dedicated to the year ahead.
This past year has been an interesting one, to say the least. Instead of looking behind, look forward and think of all the endless opportunities the next year will bring. Sorry, I’m getting really cliché. Something about New Year turns me into a motivational speaker.
Anyway, in honor of this new year, I’ve picked some pop culture references centered around the number 17 for some looks.
This film had it all. Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, and body-swapping. What more could you want? If you’ve never watched it (you should!) the plot is centered around a father who is transformed into his teenage self to become, you guessed it, 17 again.
This look was inspired by teenage boys, an unexpected style inspiration in themselves. A pair of boyfriend jeans, a raglan top, a baseball hat, and a rucksack are all items you could probably borrow off your little brother, so add a girly touch with these cute lace-up shoes.
I’ve never actually read Seventeen (we don’t get it in the UK!) so I had to go from pure stereotype here. From what I gather, it’s girly, fun, and fashionable, so here we have this look! It kind of reminds me of something from Scream Queens.
Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks
This look was my favorite to make, because I got to listen to this song on repeat and then ended up listening to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac for about two hours. An evening well spent.
This look is inspired mainly by Stevie and her own personal witchy style. Embroidered boots are also very on trend right now!
What do you think?
Do you like these looks? What are you most excited about in 2017? What was your favorite part of 2016? Have you enjoyed Unexpected Style Inspiration? Let me know in the comments!
