New music for that tale as old as time.

“On My Playlist” takes new hits and old favorites and turns them into outfits anyone can rock.

Now I know we’ve already talked about the new live-action version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, but can we take a minute to appreciate the music?!

Though the movie soundtrack was mainly taken from the animated version, composer Alan Menken and lyricist Tim Rice collaborated to write four new songs for the film.

I’ve been listening to the soundtrack non-stop since the movie came out, and I’m in love with two of the four new songs, “Evermore” (sang by Dan Stevens in the movie and covered by Josh Groban for the credits) and “How Does a Moment Last Forever?” as sang by Celine Dion. I couldn’t resist the chance to cover them, especially alongside the new rendition of “Beauty and the Beast” as covered by John Legend and Ariana Grande!

Beauty and the Beast

Products: Dress – Lulus, Shoes – Modcloth, Choker – Belk, Eyeshadow – Selfridges

You knew this song would be in the post. Between its status as a classic Disney tune and the new twist on it, it’s hard to resist this tale as old as time.

For the most part, we’ll be channeling Ariana Grande with her red dress for this outfit. If you don’t have an occasion where a ball gown with ruffles will do, but you still want to be girly when you dress up, go for a bow detail. It’s understated but grown-up, perfect for a friend’s wedding or a night out.

The shoes keep with the red theme and are also practical for dancing the night away. Mimic Ariana’s dark makeup look with a smoky eye, and give a nod to the gold detailing on John Legend’s jacket, as well as the love story, with a gold heart choker.

How Does A Moment Last Forever?

Products: Kimono Jacket – Boohoo, Dress – Le3no, Shoes – Shoedazzle, Bag – Tilly’s

I could not resist paying tribute to Belle (Emma Watson) and her outfits, especially since the music video beautifully encapsulated the film while the song showcased Celine’s incomparable voice.

Embrace a bit of brightness and don a yellow dress that’s a bit more suited for a trip to the library than for a royal ball. The blue shoes are cute but simple, like Belle’s day to day village dress. The kimono wrap is light and who can say no to roses, especially after this movie?

Finally, the simple satchel ties everything together and is perfect for stowing away a book for slow moments throughout your day.

Evermore

Products: Shirt – Aeropostale, Shorts – Aeropostale, Shoes – Lulus, Earrings – Hot Topic, Lipstick – Sephora

Okay, if you didn’t cry during this part of the movie, I don’t know what to tell you. This is easily my favorite song from the soundtrack (both versions are so good!), and this is easily my favorite outfit of the bunch.

Take a cue from the beast and wear a button down and something blue for bottoms (brought to you here by double denim). Even though he goes barefoot, you are more than welcome to slip your feet into a pair of loafers, be they suede or leather.

Given Beast’s love/hate relationship with roses, the little details, and perks of the outfit pay tribute. The earrings are low-key but adorable, and the lipstick keeps things simple but chic, perfect for a day at home or wandering out of your castle.

Bring Back the Beat!

What do you think? Did you love the movie as much as the music? What songs are you jamming out to now — and what songs should inspire my next outfits? Let me know in the comments!
