Inexpensive Beauty Gift Ideas for Every Gal-Pal on Your List
Under-$30 beauty steals that will make all your besties jump for joy this holiday.
Between family, other relatives, friends, and significant others, holiday gift spending might look daunting in terms of your time and budget.
With so many people on your list, you’re probably wondering how you’re going to get it all done, considering it’s already December and (if you’re like me) you probably haven’t done a single thing to prepare.
Instead of studying for finals you might find yourself scrambling around asking for gift ideas in a frustrating cycle of I don’t know’s and you don’t have to get me anything’s.
So let’s cut to the chase this holiday, shall we?
You want to get everyone on your list something special and uniquely fitting, but you don’t have the funds to go all out, am I right?
Well, I’m here to help alleviate some stress and anxiety about picking out special gifts.
As far as your family goes, you’re the only person that knows each member like the back of your hand, so I don’t want to sit here and tell you I have a better idea of what they want than you do.
But your favorite girlfriends? The ones you tell your deepest secrets to and stay up until 1am eating junk food with? I’ve got some ideas for them.
Whether it be a friend from work, a roommate, or a childhood BFF, we all have certain types of friends in our circle (the wild one, the mom friend, etc).
Being that this is a beauty-centric article, I’ve used a simple system to create beauty related categories for each friend in your group, making it that much easier to find the perfect beauty gift for each individual (yes, even the ones that don’t wear makeup).
So without further ado, here’s a list of common beauty girl categories each one of your friends might fit into, and some corresponding gift ideas for your bffs, with items they’ll love to receive this holiday:
Gift Ideas for the Beauty Novice
For your friends that enjoy makeup but don’t obsessively watch 10 hours of YouTube beauty videos every week or have muscle memory for how to flawlessly apply bold lipstick without a mirror, there are several gift options that won’t overwhelm but certainly won’t underwhelm.
This Benefit Cosmetics Get the Pretty Started! Face Palette has everything you need in terms of bronzer, blush, and highlight, in a travel-friendly, foolproof palette. The products themselves are self-explanatory, with bomb formulas that make it easy to look put-together.
Target’s 12 Days of Beauty Box set is also an amazing (and interactive) gift for beauty beginners, offering up 12 different beauty products from mascara all the way to a hydrating hair mask. With this many products, you’ll be giving your bestie a whole new batch of products to try and fall in love with! Who wouldn’t want that?
Gift Ideas for the Glamazon
If you’re planning on getting makeup for a self-proclaimed guru, it’s best to stick to newer products that she doesn’t have or hasn’t had a chance to test out yet.
For makeup lovers, trying new and exciting makeup is half the fun! Just scroll through Sephora’s “new arrivals” and you’ve got a bunch of cool ideas.
Fenty Beauty’s newest release, the Stunna Lip Paint in the universally flattering red shade called “uncensored” is one of these new and hyped up products that is sure to excite any glamour queen. Not to mention, the bottle itself is a piece of art that can proudly be displayed on even the most cluttered makeup desks.
Another lip product I’ve been loving that would make a perfect gift is the Huda Beauty Contour & Strobe Lip Set.
This lip trio includes a creamy lip liner, a mini matte liquid lipstick, and a corresponding sparkly lip topper/gloss for a strobing effect. This set comes in a cute lip-shaped tin (making it frustratingly hard to gift wrap, sadly) and makes a nice addition to any lip collection.
Gift Ideas for the Nail Polish Snob
Whether they wear makeup or not, the real show stopper for this type of friend is going to be on their nails. Nail polish gift sets are extremely popular around the holiday season, but there are a couple standouts that rise above the rest.
The Iceland Infinite Shine Mini Collection from OPI is unique in 2 ways. For one thing, this collection is not made entirely of plain nail polish colors, but instead includes a nail polish primer, 2 shades of nail polish, and an ultra-shiny top coat.
Additionally, the two colors included in this collection are unusual yet absolutely stunning on their own (or paired together!) Plus, with mini nail polish bottles you won’t have to deal with your nail polish drying up or turning bad after only using half a bottle!
My second (and fave) recommendation for anyone who’s a huge fan of all things nail polish is to get them a some polishes from the brand KL Polish. As a holiday deal, this newer nail brand is promoting a stocking stuffer deal where if you buy a pre-made set of three, you pay only $15!
This brand was created by a fellow nail polish fiend (who also happens to be my favorite beauty youtuber, KathleenLights), and includes a bunch of stunning color combos to choose from. In a snap, you’ll have three gorgeous and long-lasting nail polish shades to create a custom nail set for one of your faves. How easy is that?!
Gift Ideas for the Grunge Queen
For your girlfriends that like all things dark and twisty, including their beauty products, there are a couple items on the market that are going to make perfect gifts this holiday season.
From Kat Von D Beauty there’s an ultra-cool ultra-vampy handheld mirror in a sleek black design, made to look like a wax seal with the kvd logo in the back. This mirror is perfect for any friends who love all things dark or gothic.
The Total Perversion Set from Urban Decay is also perfect for your grungier friend because it comes with the UD Perversion Eyeliner Pencil and the ever-so-popular Perversion mascara. These are the only two tools you really need for a grungy, smoked-out eye look that’s gonna last all day (and then some).
Gift Ideas for the Fresh-faced Beauty
You know those friends that never wear a lot of makeup yet are so put-together that they always look bomb regardless of the amount of beauty products they’re wearing?
Yeah, I love to hate them too. But here are some beauty gifts these natural cuties are going to really appreciate.
As the name suggests, this set of sugar lip scrub, lip mask, and lip balm is formulated with agave to exfoliate, moisturize, and protect your lips through the chilly months of winter. With supple, moisturized lips, there’s no need to hide behind lipstick!
The new Amazing Grace gift duo from Philosophy is another perfect gift for your fresh-faced gal pals, because it comes with a body lotion and fragrance dabber with the signature Amazing Grace scent (which is fresh, clean, floral, and feminine on the skin!)
As an added bonus, the body lotion (called “firming body emulsion”) is packed with antioxidants and vitamins to help firm and tone the skin! This duo is truly a match made in heaven.
Gift Ideas for the Makeup Dissenter
Just because one of your friends doesn’t like or wear makeup doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy being pampered. And that’s exactly what you can give her if you pick up one of these two gift sets for her.
This “The Night Before Christmas” Lush set includes their sweet lavender shower gel called Twilight and a calming “sleepy” lotion which is also lavender scented to relax even the most restless.
What’s even better is that this set already comes neatly wrapped up, so all you have to do is bring it home and place it under the tree!
Another amazing gift set comes from one of my favorite skincare brands: L’Occitane. The L’Occitane Almond trio from Sephora includes Almond Shower Oil to cleanse and hydrate the skin while showering, the Almond Milk Concentrate to moisturize the entire body for up to 48 hours, and the Almond Hand cream to keep dryness away from your hands. The Almond base of this trio means they all smell and feel like heaven on the skin. Need I say more?
What do you think of these beauty gift ideas?
