Fall ’17 was tailor-made for the working girl.

It’s that time of year – the weird time where the mornings are crisp and chilly but the afternoons are still hot and sticky, where PSLs are available but you still kind of want your iced caramel macchiato, where you start to see folks wearing fierce fall fashion trends everywhere, but you’re stuck in the office, dying a little bit from jealousy.

Never fear – each season, there are fashion trends that can easily be worn to work.

This fall, there are soooooo many trends that are office-approved – from embroidered anything (and everything!) to broad-shouldered suiting to midi skirts. But my absolute favorite fashion trends you can wear at the office this fall are some of the biggest of the season: power red, couch florals, and victorian collars.

It’s easier than you think to create trendy work outfits. Ideas below!

Power Red

Products: Pants – Express | Shirt – ZARA | Watch – Zappos | Texturizing spray – Neiman Marcus | Flats – Nordstrom Rack | Blazer – MANGO | Bag – MANGO | Lipstick – Barneys

I am a huuuuuge fan of bright “power” red for the office, so I was stoked to see fashion heavy-hitters like Oscar de la Renta, Dolce and Gabbana, Givenchy, and Fendi send cherry red garments down the runways recently.

Trust me, red is going to be THE color for fall.

Like a red lip, red clothes look gorge and feminine on all skin tones, and like other brights, red can be used to draw attention to certain features.

For work, especially, a pair of bright red pants can be worn with a lot of work-wardrobe staples, like slinky white button-downs, striped shirts, and black blazers. I especially love pairing this color with rose gold accessories for an unexpected but polished touch.

Finish the look with equally trendy embroidered d’orsay flats, a floral tote bag, and a red lip.

Couch Florals

Products: Dress – MANGO | Earrings – Sole Society | Phone case – Casetify | Bag – Sole Society | Nail Polish – Barneys | Booties – Sole Society

I thought I was going to hate the couch florals trend at first (the name evokes frumpy, out-of-date, and dingy florals, does it not? just me?) but as a diehard florals girl, I’m starting to love this look.

It’s especially great when paired with a bold color like power red.

Big, bold, colorful florals are fun and creative, which make them a perfect choice for anyone working in a casual or creative office (or, when paired with a blazer, an excellent casual Friday choice for conservative offices).

This trend looks amazing on printed pants and breezy blouses, but I especially love it on fall dresses (midi-length please – especially for work!). Just add some neutral accessories, like black suede booties and a structured taupe bag, and a little bit of bling from trendy minimalist earrings, gold nail polish, and a gold marble phone case.

Victorian Collar

Products: Blouse – River Island | Skirt – Express | Dry conditioner – Nordstrom | Eyeliner – Sephora | Ring – Lord & Taylor | Mules – Nordstrom Rack | Bag – Nordstrom

If lace and ruffles and high-necked button-ups are your thing, the victoriana trend was tailor-made for you.

Victorian collar blouses may seem fussy and ultra-conservative, but if you stick with a classic white, as shown above, you can treat it like any of your white button-ups. Just think of it like a normal shirt with a little extra feminine (and slightly gothic) flair.

If you’re worried about looking too precious for the office, try pairing this trend with menswear elements, (like the brogue-like mules above), edgier pieces (like a chocolate leather skirt), or minimalist details (an unstructured black leather bag) to provide balance.

Sleek beauty choices, like shiny hair in a center part or a killer cat eye, would also help temper this updated but old-fashioned look.

What do you think?
